New Edison/DPS Information
DPS is now requiring volunteers to sign a waiver and confidentiality agreement every year. Please do this in the Edison office before your first volunteer shift. This is in addition to submitting an application with Sterling to be approved as a volunteer for the district (see Volunteer information below).
Denver Mayor’s Childcare for All Initiative
Childcare for All, a new citywide initiative, brings together families, childcare providers, educators, employers and community members to identify solutions to access to high-quality childcare. Community feedback will help inform future recommendations to strengthen childcare across our city. Please share these opportunities to get involved with your school community:
Attend a Community Meeting:
You can report a student's absence online in Parent Portal!
For both planned and unplanned student absences, you can login to Parent Portal and submit an absence request instead of calling the attendance line.
Show Your Edison Spirit!
Every Friday, we invite your kiddos to wear their favorite Edison gear or blue and yellow to show their school spirit! Please note: This will replace our monthly “Spirit Fridays”— one less thing to remember! Let’s show our Edison Eagle pride every Friday!
Edison/DPS Reminders
There is a new app for DPS transportation! With this app, parents can receive late bus alerts, view route information and check their student’s bus location. Because these features are offered, scanning on and off the bus is mandatory and students must have a QR code on their phone or printed ID. Physical IDs are being printed for transportation eligible elementary, middle and high school students. Once completed, these IDs will be delivered to your schools for distribution. Aligning with the new cellphone policy, students are permitted to utilize their mobile devices while on the bus to display their digital QR codes. If you have questions, please email transportation@dpsk12.org.
New Personal Communication Device School Board Policy
DPS School Board has approved a new policy (Policy: JICJ Section: J - Students) concerning personal communication devices at our schools. Beginning this year, all personal communication devices (Cellphones, smart or electronic wearables [such as smart watches or smart glasses], wireless earbuds and earphones, personally-owned tablets and laptops, non-district-issued computing devices, and any other personally-owned, portable electronic communication devices) must be turned off and kept out of sight during school hours. Should you choose to send your child to school with one of these devices, Edison and DPS are not liable if the device breaks, is lost or stolen. If you need to contact your child during the school day, call Edison’s front office.
Get Back-to-School Ready with DPS Family Academy
DPS Family Academy is a 15-minute digital orientation to Denver Public Schools. Families can learn how to use the Parent Portal, complete the You Benefit! form, understand attendance and wellness resources, and find academic support.
Complete the academy for a chance to win a Family Night Kit.

Construction at Edison
In March, DPS started the construction at Edison to install air conditioning, as well as several other upgrades and repairs to Edison. This work will continue over the summer and through next school year and summer. We are excited and appreciative of the efforts to keep our beautiful, historic building comfortable for teaching and learning. Please be aware of the following:
Beginning May 26, the area around the dumpsters in the parking lot will be blocked off as construction will be occurring in this area. It is necessary that the community refrain from driving through and walking through the parking lot during this time.
The school grounds, including the playground, will be closed this summer. Please refrain from using the field or playground this summer to keep everyone safe. Thank you in advance.
We anticipate construction activities in the building right up until school starts, so we will not be able to accommodate family visits in the building.
