A message from the Principal and AP

It is the time of year when schools begin planning for the next school year. Edison’s School Leadership Team and Collaborative School Committee are already planning for the 2026-27 school year. DPS is projecting a decline in enrollment across DPS, however, at Edison enrollment is staying steady and positively impacts our budget and staffing decisions.  Additionally, Edison is privileged to have a supportive PTA and community which fundraised and granted money to continue to fund our instructional paraprofessionals to support students (and teachers) in classrooms. Therefore, we are planning on continuing and enhancing our current staffing. We strongly believe this will continue to provide additional instructional support to students which positively impacts their learning. We are blessed to have a supportive school community as we plan for the next year.

Though Edison’s PTA is continuing to plan several fun community events for this school year, they are also beginning to think about next school year. Our hope is to recruit a few amazing parent volunteers who are excited and willing to help lead our PTA as board members. Our current PTA president and VP would love to find parent leaders who would like to shadow them for a year and then take over as president or VP in the 27-28 school year. Please reach out to Sally Whitelock, principal (sally_whitelock@dpsk12.org ) or Laura Rymarz, PTA president (ptaedisondenver@gmail.com ) if you are interested.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Sally Whitelock, Principal,

Samantha Armijo, Assistant Principal
