New Community Information:

  • Trick-or-Treat Street and Dia De Los Muertos at North High School - On October 30 at 5:30 come to North High for face painting, a mole cook-off, a hat contest, skull painting, lots of candy and more! And it’s free!

  • Donate Halloween costumes at North High - North’s Elevate Initiative club is seeking gently used or new Halloween costumes for children in need between the age of 4 and 10. Drop of at the main office until October 22.

  • Enrichment Updates: The fall season is wrapping up on After School Enrichments. We hope your children have enjoyed their after school activities so far. The offerings for the winter season are currently being updated to the Edison Homeroom Site now. Be sure to check the site frequently as new classes will be added until November 1st. 

Here are important dates to keep in mind.

  • Last week of fall classes: November 4 - November 7

  • Fall make up week for any cancelled Fall Classes (currently there are no make ups): November 10 - November 14

  • Registration for winter season Opens November 3 at 12:00 pm and is open until November 14.

  • Winter season dates: November 17 to February 20, 2026

  • Winter makeup week: February 23 - 27, 2026

  • Edison Science Fair - The Science Fair is open to all students ECE-5th grade. Students can participate by doing a traditional Scientific Method project or a STEM (engineering) project. If your child would like to be a part of Science Fair, please complete the Project Intent form (available through classroom teachers) by 10/25/19. Science Fair packets will be sent home or emailed to families that return the Intent Form. 

  • Friday, October 24 – Friday, November 14  - Sign-up for Science/STEM Fair open! Complete the Intent to Participate google form in order to secure your spot in the fair. Intent to Participate google form 

  • Friday, November 21 - Last day to withdraw your intent to participate. Please withdraw by emailing Ms. Arey and Ms. Singh (bayleigh_arey@dpsk12.net and courtney_singh@dpsk12.net ). 

  • Monday, December 1 The completed Science Fair packet is due.

  • Thursday, December 4 - Bring your project to the auditorium between 3:30 – 4pm in order to set up.  The Science Fair will be open to the Edison community from 4 - 5pm. 

  • Friday, December 5 - Students will present their projects to judges in the morning. Classrooms will come through at the end of the day to view the projects.   Projects go home by 4:00pm.

Reminders:

  • Fall Festival - Join us for our annual Fall Festival on Friday, October 24 from 3:30-5:30 on Edison’s parking lot and playground. Students may wear their costumes to school that day and after school (please no masks or fake blood or weapons). Caregivers must attend with their students. The festivities will begin at 3:30 with trunk-or-treat and fun games. We appreciate donations of prizes/treats, as well as volunteers (for each classroom trunk/game) to support this fun event. Please communicate with your student’s lead volunteer classroom caregiver to help decorate a vehicle/trunk or run a game. PTA will be selling tickets for $1 each for games & concessions.

  • Eagle Run - We’re so close to reaching our goal! Our target is $85,000, and we’re already at $73,000. If each family contributes just $20 more per student, we’ll fully fund our paras for next year. These incredible educators make such a meaningful difference in our classrooms—let’s get across the finish line together!  

  • Support Edison While You Shop at King Soopers - Did you know you can give back to Edison every time you shop at King Soopers? It’s quick and free to set up:

    • Go to www.kingsoopers.com and sign in (or create an account).

    • Click “Community Rewards” in the menu.

    • Search Edison Elementary PTA (3350 Quitman St, Denver 80212) and click Enroll.   

    • That’s it—every grocery trip helps our school! 

  • Important Caregiver Sign-up Links and Surveys:

    • BESS Survey for parents/caregivers: The BESS survey is a social-emotional screening tool which, accompanied by other data, is used to drive decisions for students’ behavioral, social emotional and mental health needs and supports.     • Edison Spirit Rock - Want to add a personal touch and make someone’s week unforgettable? Reserve one of our Spirit Rocks today! Choose your desired month(s) and view available weeks for painting. We have two Spirit Rocks available for rental, one on the 1st-5th grade playground and one on the kindergarten/ECE playground. You get to paint your own personal message (simply paint over the previous week’s design!) Spirit Rocks are available for rental Monday-Friday and painting will occur on the weekends.

  • Community Opportunities & Information:

    • Join the Avalanche Soccer Club for Find Your Game Fridays, happening every Friday in September and October from 5:00 PM to 6:15 PM at Anderson Park (4355 Field St, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033). This weekly event is open to all ages and costs $15 per player each week. Registration is required. Click HERE for more details and to sign up!

Edison CARES – Community Service Projects 2025–2026: The PTA will be organizing service projects for families to get involved and give back to our community and school.

  • Community Service: Volunteer at the Food Bank of the Rockies Warehouse (10700 E. 45th Ave, Denver) on Saturday, Oct 18, 1–4pm (15 kid spots, 10 adult spots, kids must be 10+).  Registration deadline: Oct 3, 2025 (Any unfilled spots after Oct 3 will open to the public.)

    • How to Register: Go to https://vhub.at/1PCCNG8    Select the Oct 18 event and click Sign Up, Log in or create an account (no join code needed), Accept waiver during registration, Receive confirmation email, All volunteers must register individually. 

  • Want to Get Involved? The PTA often needs an extra set of hands—sometimes at the last minute. If you have a flexible schedule, join our “on-call” volunteer list!
