The DPS GT department has updated the Universal Screening process for Gifted and Talented identification. Previously, it was given to kindergarten and 2nd grade students. Since families may have been anticipating this testing, we are offering an opt-in testing window for K and 2nd to be included in universal screenings this year. The window for families to opt-in is September 12-22. Here is a link for you to opt in your Kinder or 2nd grade student for cognitive testing. If you have any questions please email our GT teacher, Valerie Lovato - vlovato@dpsk12.net. Discovery Link has a new invoicing and drop in policy. Please see the details here Please be aware that dogs are not allowed on DPS property. If you bring them with you for drop off or pick up, you’ll need to wait outside school gates with your dog and let your child enter and exit without you. Please do not tie them up to school property, including to the outside of the fence. You never know what will set off a usually friendly dog. A parent was bit this week just walking past another parent with a dog on a leash. Thank you for helping to keep our students and family members safe. Lunchroom Change: If you have a student who brings lunch from home but gets milk from the cafeteria, we will now be charging them $1 per milk. Please ensure your student has money in their account. Safe drop off and pick up at Edison: Safety is our first priority at Edison and this starts with drop off and pick up of students. In order to make sure that all students are safe at all times, please: Caregivers are welcome to either park on the street (not in front of a driveway) and walk to drop off/pick up students OR pull up in the Kiss and Go/Greet and Get lane (polka-dotted lane on Perry street) and stay in their car to drop off/pick up students. School buses park on the east side of the school on the southwest side of Perry Street. DO NOT park or even pull over in this area. The parking lot is for DPS staff ONLY, please DO NOT park, drop off or pick up students in the parking lot.
