Many Reasons to be Thankful – Exciting Edison News!!!

The past few weeks have been exciting ones at Edison and we have been so fortunate to receive amazing support and opportunities from within our community. Thanks to all of our amazing PTA members and Edison faculty and administration, we have been able to bring $500 from the Colorado PTA (CoPTA) into our school. The attendance at last week’s meeting was fantastic and we appreciate all of you that took the time to come participate in our meeting and Common Core presentation.

One of the things that we are tremendously thankful for, and which was announced at the meeting, is that Edison has a mystery donor! This donor has granted the Edison PTA $10,000 (!) which they have directed to be spent on new Auditorium chairs and new books for the Edison Library. We are completely blown away by this donor’s generosity and even more so by the fact that it doesn’t stop there!

This donor has informed us that they will match any donations to the school, dollar for dollar, up to an additional $10,000! Any funds donated will be used for Health and Wellness initiatives and for Technology needs/advancements. So, we are asking anyone – Edison family members, community members, local businesses, friends and family of Edison students/parents to please make a donation of any amount to our school. Each dollar you donate turns into $2 for the school!

We only have until January 15th to collect donations so we encourage everyone to please give if you can and to pass this information along. Facebook posts, emails and word of mouth are great ways to spread the news of this opportunity! Also, if anyone has a company that participates in matching charitable donations, that would quadruple each dollar you donate!

We are touched and thankful beyond words for the amazing opportunity being provided to Edison by this/these donor(s) and we hope that, with your help, we can make the absolute most of it! Feel free to drop off a check in the Edison office (made out to the Edison PTA), make cash donations in the office, donate online, contribute via PayPal by clicking the “Donate” button on Edison’s homepage or click the “Donate Now” button on Edison’s Facebook page.

In addition to the extreme generosity of our mystery donor, we also have to give a thankful shout out to two local businesses – Novo Coffee and El Camino Community Tavern, both located in Highlands Square. Novo is offering a special Edison Blend coffee in-store. Order forms went home in this past Thursday’s folders. Each bag costs $15 and 35% of that comes directly back to Edison! These bags contain whole beans (though they will grind them in-store for you) and make a great gift or a must-have for all coffee lovers. Novo was kind enough to serve the Edison Blend at the last PTA meeting and it was certainly a hit. Please return your order forms by December 4th or just swing into the Highlands location to pick up a bag (or two)!

As for El Camino, this is another local business that is, frankly, going above and beyond for our school. El Camino has partnered with Ratio Beerworks to develop an Edison special edition “Legacy” brew in honor of our school’s 125th anniversary! This beer will be on tap at El Camino throughout the entire month of December. Each pint costs $5.00 and 100% of that comes directly back to Edison. We will be hosting a celebratory social at El Camino on Thursday, December 3 from 5-9pm. All are welcome. Please come have a pint with fellow school parents, friends and community members. It’s sure to be a great night!

As if that wasn’t enough, El Camino will also be hosting Edison lunches on select Wednesdays throughout the rest of the school year: December 9, March 9, and May 11. These lunches will go from 11-2 and if you mention Edison, or write “Edison” on your check, 100% of your pre-tax purchase will come back to our school. So, plan on being thirsty and hungry for the kiddos over the coming weeks and months and, when you are, head over to El Camino!

With all of these amazing opportunities in the works, you can see how we can be nothing but thankful for the community and generosity of spirit by which Edison is surrounded. We are overcome by the goodwill that is coming to our school and send our most heartfelt thanks out to those that are being so tremendously generous with their gifts of time, effort, and financial support. We recognize that not all schools or communities are as fortunate as Edison and we once again, give thanks for all that we can do and accomplish through this tremendous support.

Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and Holiday Season,

–Edison PTA
