Edison After School Enrichment Information
At Edison, we believe that enrichment activities are an essential part of a well-rounded academic education. Therefore, Edison is proud to offer a variety of after school enrichment classes for students who attend our school. If you wish to sign your child up for an enrichment class, be aware of the following important information.

Enrichment Policies
- After school enrichment classes are run by independent providers or DPS teachers who are renting a space at Edison to provide this service. These providers are not supervised or overseen by the school leadership or the Edison enrichment coordinator (Valerie Lovato), however, they do complete an application and background check in order to be approved to lead a class at our school.
- If you have conflicts with providers, reach out to them directly first before contacting the Enrichment Coordinator.
- The Providers are responsible for the safety and well being of students during their classes.
- They are in charge of behaviors and make decisions on student conduct that best fits the needs of their classes. Edison supports our providers in the behavior supports that they implement.
- Each enrichment class will be scheduled one day per week for one hour (3:30-4:30 PM). Morning classes can only be run by Edison staff members using their own space.
- Families are required to maintain accurate family, health, and emergency contact information through Homeroom.com
- Families need to notify the provider (through email and/or homeroom.com messaging) when their student is going to be absent. This will help the provider know who to be expecting each day.
- Some enrichment providers will provide snacks and others will ask you to provide them yourself.
2024-2025 Enrichment Schedule
- Fall Enrichment Session: September 2, 2024 to November 8, 2024
- Winter Enrichment Session: December 2, 2024 to February 21, 2025
- Spring Enrichment Session: March 10, 2025 to May 23, 2025
- There will not be enrichment classes on days that students are not in school or days that there are special events (Conferences and some after school events. This link jumps you to the list at the bottom of this page.) Check the DPS and Edison calendar for this information. I created a list of all these dates at the end of this handbook. You can cross check with these calendars as well.24-25 Calendar Here & Edison Community Calendar. I will create all classes on Homeroom.com according to these schedules.
- It is advised to subscribe to the calendar through homeroom.com! The website will send you reminders of the start of classes, no class days, and the last day of classes.
- If a provider needs to cancel a class, they will contact the Enrichment Coordinator, school office AND guardians. We will do our best to ensure there is someone to cover the class; but you may have to pick up your student on an unexpected day. If no one is available or the class is canceled for other circumstances we will use the make-up week that is scheduled for the week after classes end. The make-up week will only be used in case of emergency cancellations (family emergencies, snow days, illnesses); they are not a part of the 10 week schedule.
- Where Providers will pick up students at the end of the school day:
- For students in ECE-K: At 3:25, Edison Enrichment providers will pick up ECE and Kinder students from their classrooms and sign them out.
- For students in 1st-5th grades: At 3:25 pm, all Edison 1st-5th grade students will be dismissed on the east side of the building. Students participating in Edison Enrichment programs will be dismissed by their classroom teachers and sent to the picnic table area near the steps to the school library to join their enrichment provider.
- Discovery Link Families: If your child normally attends Discovery Link, then the parents of children participating in Discovery Link will need to complete an Enrichment Provider Form. These forms are available at Edison’s Discovery Link and need to be completed prior to each activity (or session) and for each individual child. On days your child is registered for enrichment activities your child will go directly to his/her enrichment activity at the end of the school day. The enrichment provider is responsible for ensuring your child gets to Discovery Link at the end of the enrichment program. Students who also attend Discovery Link DO NOT go to Discovery Link first, they proceed directly to the Edison Enrichment pickup area.
- Where Providers will Dismiss Students:
- The provider will walk ALL students to the main entrance (on the front or west side) of the school and take them outside to meet their caregivers or those authorized to pick them up. Some Edison teachers may dismiss at other doors to alleviate traffic at the front doors. Check for communication from your enrichment providers for the pick up location. Caregivers must be on time and wait outside. When students have been picked up the provider must walk Discovery Link students to the appropriate location and sign them in.
Homeroom.com
We use the platform Homeroom to schedule all enrichment sessions. In order to be prepared to sign up your students for enrichments using Homeroom, create your account or ensure you can log in before 8/20, 11/11, or 2/24. Go to this link for instructions and a link to register: https://homeroom.helpscoutdocs.com/article/45-create-parent-account
- A list of Edison Extra Enrichment classes being offered is located on this site.
- This list is updated as providers register with us, all classes will be posted by August 20, November 11, or February 24; check in regularly to see all class offerings.
- Cancellations and rescheduling of classes you enroll in: if an issue arises after registration and you need to cancel a class or switch things around, contact the Provider of the class first – they will work with you based on their refund policies or cancellation stipulations. If support is needed after that, or with homeroom.com issues contact the Enrichment Coordinator.
- It is advised to subscribe to the calendar through homeroom.com! The website will send you reminders of the start of classes, no class days, and the last day of classes.
- Thursday and Friday classes – We would love to have more families join our classes on Thursdays and Fridays (and not have to cancel any classes that have been scheduled for those days). By having classes 5 days a week we can spread out how many classrooms are being used each afternoon and provide EVEN MORE class opportunities. Some providers also provide discount codes for sibling discounts. Contact the provider to see if they offer a sibling discount. Consider having your kiddo join a class on a Thursday or Friday!
Thank you for your interest and participation in Edison Enrichment Opportunities!
