Parent Input forms

In April/May of each school year, the Edison teachers draft class lists for the following school year. In order to provide a transparent, fair process for placing students into classrooms/with teachers each year, the following process will be followed:

In March, parents will have the opportunity to complete a Parent Input form, describing the social and educational needs of their child. This information will be considered in determining classroom/teacher assignments.
* Parents will not be allowed to request teachers for their students.
* Teachers will make recommendations for classroom/teacher assignments based on all information known about children.
* Teacher assignment decisions may change until the first day of school based on class sizes.
* Parents are NOT required to complete this form, however, if you would like to share information which the teacher may not know that you would like to be considered, please complete and submit this form by April 8:

**NEW** DPS Science Fair

The 2022 DPS Science Fair will be held in person on April 30th from 8:00-1:30 at the Gates Field  House on the University of Denver campus.  For more information and to register, please visit: https://sciencefair.dpsk12.org/

**NEW** Opt-In for 22-23 Transportation

The Opt-In Program for the 2022-23 school year will go live April 15 and close June 30. Families of eligible students will need to log into Parent Portal and opt in if they require DPS transportation services. The Opt-In Program helps the Transportation Team properly allocate resources and make plans for students who intend to ride the bus. Gathering this data early will ensure more timely and efficient transportation at the start of the school year.

If families do not opt-in by June 30, we will plan our bus routes without their student. This doesn’t change their student’s eligibility, but it could cause a delay in service.

Please see more information here: Updated 22-23 SY Opt-In Description Flier.pdf

CSC Nominations

The Collaborative School Committee (CSC) is a great opportunity for parents to further participate in the education of our children by supporting decision making at the school. The CSC is a collaborative committee of school leadership, teachers, parents and classified staff who meet monthly to strategically design the school’s Unified Improvement Plan, analyze school data, provide guidance on and approve the school budget and staffing allocations, and advise the school leadership on school design decisions.  Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month from 4:30-5:30 at Edison and are open to all community members.

We have two openings for CSC parents representatives for the 2022-23 school year. If you are interested in serving on the CSC, please complete a nomination form no later than April 15 at:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScZsO0jBRQci5jTbjObVBjJcGQNE5OjuYqH28rLAFRD1TbKtQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

Safe Drop off and Pick up

As you all know, we have A LOT of students dropped off and picked up at Edison from 8:15-8:30 and 3:30-3:45 daily. Therefore, there are a lot of cars and the streets can become unsafe at this time. In order to ensure the safety of all of our students, please help us by:
* Dropping off students on the Edison side of the street;
* Crossing the street only at the cross walks (not in the middle of the street);
* Using the Kiss & Go/Greet & Get lane to drop off/pick up students – Do NOT park in this area;
* Not parking, dropping off or picking up students in the staff parking lot;
* Driving very carefully;
* Please know that there is supervision on the playground from 3:20-3:25 daily. Teachers should be wearing yellow vests so that they are identifiable.

Crossing Guard Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering before or after school to be a crossing guard to help keep students safe as they come to and leave school, please email us at: Sally_Whitelock@dpsk12.org or Megan_Bohanan@dpsk12.org
