CMAS Testing
The Colorado Department of Education requires that all 3rd-5th grade students take the CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success). All 3rd-5th graders are required to take assessments in Mathematics and English Language Arts and, additionally, 4th graders are assessed in social studies and 5th graders are assessed in science. These assessments will be given online and will be administered under standardized conditions to ensure the reliability and validity of the results.
* Find student practice resources here: https://coassessments.com/practice-resources/
* CDE family resources here: http://www.cde.state.co.us/communications/resourcesforparents
* Schedule:
3rd Grade: April 7-9 ELA, April 10-14 Math
4th Grade: April 7-9 ELA, April 10-14 Math, April 15 Social Studies
5th Grade: April 7-9 ELA, April 10-14 Math, April 15-17 Science

**Please be aware that we will have a strict no cell phone and no smart watch policy during CMAS. All cell phones and smart watches will be collected during testing and returned after testing.

Keep drop off and pick up safe – it takes us all!
Safety is our first priority at Edison and this starts with drop off and pick up of students. In order to make sure that all students are safe and accounted for at all times, please keep the following in mind:
* 1st-5th grade students should be dropped off/picked up on the playground on the east side of the school or on the northwest side of Perry Street in the Kiss and Go/Greet and Get lane (polka-dotted);
* Please only drop off students on the Edison side of the street. This decreases the chance of students getting hit by moving vehicles.
* All students and community members should cross the street at cross walks.
* The parking lot is for DPS staff ONLY, please do NOT park, drop off or pick up students in the parking lot.
* If you are driving, please drive slowly and be very aware of those walking.

Medication at School
As a reminder, students may not keep any medication in their possession at school. Please do not send your child to school with any type of medication. If your child needs medication at school, please connect with our school nurse to complete the required paperwork.

Caregiver Input form
If you would like to provide input into teacher/classroom decisions for the 2025-26 school year, please share your input regarding each of your students (one form per student) on or before April 11 at: https://forms.gle/wf7Mks5DrsNYyMhq5
* Please note:
– Information from caregivers will be considered in determining classroom/teacher assignments.
– Caregivers will not be permitted to request specific teachers for their students.
– Teachers will make recommendations for classroom/teacher assignments based on all information known about children.
– Teacher assignment decisions may change until the first day of school based on class sizes.

CSC Nominations
The Collaborative School Committee (CSC) is a great opportunity for caregivers to further participate in the education of our children by supporting decision making at the school. The CSC is a collaborative committee of school leadership, teachers, caregivers and classified staff who meet monthly to strategically design the school’s Unified Improvement Plan, analyze school data, provide guidance on and approve the school budget and staffing allocations, and advise the school leadership on school design decisions. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month from 4:00-5:00 at Edison and are open to all community members. We have one opening for a CSC caregiver representative for the 2025-26 school year. If you are interested in serving on the CSC, please complete a nomination form no later than April 11 at: https://forms.gle/xLnaYK79NDbaKHHB7
