February Conferences
Please join us for Student-led Conferences (open house in classroom) on February 16 between 3:45-5:45 PM. Teachers will be contacting caregivers of students who need support academically, socially or with work habits to set up individual conferences. If caregivers wish to have an individual conference, please contact your child’s teacher to set it up. Students who do not need individual conferences will lead student-led conferences with their caregivers to share what they are learning in school and their personal goals. Please watch for communication from teachers regarding how this will occur virtually.

School Choice
All incoming kindergarten students, as well as any new student coming from outside of Edison’s attendance area and any student at Edison who wants to go someplace else next year, must complete an application found here: https://schoolchoice.dpsk12.org/.
Current Edison students in grades kindergarten and above do not need to submit an application to stay at Edison. The school choice window is January 13 to February 14.

For ECE, the Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado application process is open now through Feb. 14 (Please note the UPK window closes Feb. 14 and not Feb. 15 as originally communicated.) As a reminder, ECE-3 and ECE-4 families must complete both a DPS SchoolChoice application and a UPK Colorado application. Families have until 4 p.m. on Feb. 14 to complete a DPS SchoolChoice application and a UPK Colorado application. Please refer to the CDEC’s Family FAQ page for more information. Given that this is a brand new program and system, families are encouraged to apply early to best navigate this new process and we encourage families to utilize the following resources:
Application fliers for ECE-3 and ECE-4: Fliers in all Consent Decree languages will be available here.

Passions Day – Volunteers needed
Passions Day will be on Friday, March 24th during the school day. Passions Day is an annual event where we invite family and community members to come present their passion to our students. Our theme will be “Pursuing passions help us connect people with respect and compassion”. During the school day on March 24, community members will present a 30 minute presentation/activity. Students will rotate to different rooms throughout the day (as a class) and listen to various presenters. Examples in the past have been: beekeepers, nursing, kombucha brewer, yoga instructors, jewelry making, city building, forensic science, flight for life, etc.

If you, your relatives, or your friends are interested in either presenting in person at Edison, please sign up at: https://forms.gle/m4H2VUdiKg2FMHDJ6
After you sign up, you will receive additional information from Mrs. Dougherty regarding details.
