Bagels and Books

Please join us on December 9 from 8:20-9:40 AM in Edison classrooms for our literacy celebration – Bagels and Books! Caregivers and students will enjoy bagels while enjoying a literacy based craft activity.

PJ Day

December 16 is our Read-a-thon kick-off and PJ Day! We encourage students to wear their PJs to school and bring a book to read during the day. We will kick off the Read-a-thon with a fun day of reading before the winter break.

Read-a-thon

Mr. Carter and the Literacy Committee will be getting kids jazzed about reading and the upcoming Read-A-Thon starting in December. Between Usborne and Scholastic Book Fairs  and the Read-A-Thon, we raised about $10,000 for books and literacy supplies last year!

Next dates to remember:
* December 18 – Pajama Day/Read-a-Thon  Kickoff
* December 18 – January 4 – Read-A-Thon

Eagle Readers read over 150,000 minutes and raised about $7,000 during last year’s Winter Break! We’re hoping to break that record this year in our 9th Annual Read-A-Thon! The reader who reads the most minutes per grade will receive a prize! Plus, Eagle Readers who read at least the minimum amount suggested per grade will be eligible to win fantastic prizes! This year, our goal is to raise at least $10,000 for more books and electronic literacy resources. Our library, book room, and classroom libraries constantly need to be refreshed.  Please be on the lookout for more information on the Read A Thon.

Healthy Start Times

With DPS adjusting school start and end times next year, many are wondering what Edison’s schedule will be. For the 2023-24 school year, Edison’s start and end times will remain the same as this year – Start time: 8:30, End time: 3:25.
