Eagle Run and Direct Ask fundraiser
Mark your calendars – our annual Eagle Run is scheduled for September 24. Students will gather pledges and then participate in the fun run to build community and raise money for Edison’s PTA. Pledge sheets went out in the Thursday folders this week. This year the Eagle Run is raising money to grant to the school for paras (assistants to 1-5th grade teachers) for next year. Our goal is to raise $80,000! If each student donated $150 we would reach our goal, but every dollar counts no matter the size! The teachers at Edison have asked for more help to give their students more support in the classroom, that is what the para’s at Edison do! Help us continue supporting our students and teachers at Edison for next year. QR code to online donation page.
To contribute directly to our fundraising efforts, you can give through any of these convenient methods:
* Venmo ID: @EdisonElementaryPTA
* Online at the PTA or Edison websites: https://edisonptadenver.org or https://edison.dpsk12.org
* Snail Mail or Drop Off: Edison Elementary Attn: PTA Fundraising 3350 Quitman Street Denver, CO 80212
Edison T-shirts
Fridays are spirit days – we encourage students and staff to wear their Edison t-shirts. Once per month we will have a fun dress up day. If your child is in need of a new Edison t-shirt, you can purchase one for $10 in the Edison office.
Shout Outs!
* Thank you to the Edison Girl Scouts who painted the playground game areas before school started – it looks great!
* Thank you parents who helped pick the weeks in our baseball diamond!
PTA Update
* New PTA Board members: Welcome Hilary Frank and Marc Ring!
* Looking to help your child’s school…..join the PTA! $10-$15 for the year! You are able to vote on issues that the PTA is working on and be involved. Plus all meetings are virtual! QR code to join. We may run a contest to see what grade has the most PTA signups….Pizza Party!
* Join a PTA committee! There are so many little things the PTA does for the school….and frankly, the board is getting tired of doing it all. So if you have some time, help us out! Most of the “jobs” can be done at home, work, soccer practice, etc. on your phone, tablet, or computer! Help support your child’s school, I promise it will make you feel good!
Edison COVID Quarantine Attendance and School-work Policy
** In order to support teachers with reasonable workloads while also providing students opportunities to continue learning when isolated or quarantined due to COVID, Edison will do the following:
** Parents, please call the Edison office and let us know if your student is absent from school due to a positive COVID test or quarantined due to exposure by a close contact (inside for 15 minutes or more without masks).
* If students are absent from school due to COVID isolation or quarantine: the teacher will contact parents within 24 with information regarding how their child can engage in learning from home; parents will be asked to come to the school to pick up learning materials (Chromebook, workbooks, etc); students will engage in independent learning activities while at home (we will not be live streaming).
If students are sick or on vacation, teachers will not provide learning materials for students to do at home. Parents, PLEASE call the school attendance line every day that your child is absent. Thank you!
*** Additionally, in order to decrease the spread of viruses, please know that DPS installed HEPA filters in uni-vent systems in all of our classrooms at Edison in order to improve ventilation and support air purification. These are changed regularly.
