This is Sally Whitelock and Benita Cervantes with announcements for the week of March 22 for the Edison Eagles…
Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. We would like to continue to encourage everyone to stay healthy and do your part to get our community more healthy – wear masks, socially distance, wash your hands, keep your social groups very small. We all need to work together to keep our students in school in person as long as possible. THANK YOU!
Edison Spirit Friday
Friday, March 26 – Passions Day – Dress to show your favorite passion, interest or career today.
Culture Night – virtual this year
Each March, Edison hosts a community Culture Night. This is typically a fun celebration of Edison’s diverse school community with a pot luck dinner of favorite dishes, student dances from around the world, the Mizel museum and a student culture project museum. Due to COVID, we are going virtual this year. On Thursday, March 25, please take some time to have your child share their culture project with you and go onto Seesaw to view some culture projects of your child’s classmates. We also hope you enjoy a few of the culturally themed virtual field trips. We would love to hear what you enjoyed and learned, as well as, your most favorite family cultural activity or recipe – please share these on our Facebook page on March 25! See below for some Virtual Culture Field Trips!
Virtual Passions Day
Culture and Passions Day will be on Friday, March 26 during the school day. Our theme is “Pursuing passions help us connect people with respect and compassion.” During the school day, students will watch videos from parents and community members sharing a passion/interest, cultural tradition, or career, as well as engage in activities in their classroom related to passions, culture and career. This is always a super fun and interesting day for our students!
Recess cohort change
DPS has revised the recess guidelines based on current COVID positivity rates and in consultation with the health department. Starting March 22, students will be allowed to play at recess anywhere on the playground with their grade level peers – they will not be required to stay in cohorts and in specific stations. Students will be required to wear masks and use hand sanitizer when they enter the building. We are excited to be able to provide this privilege to students again.
Parent Feedback Survey
We wanted to check in with you to see how you are feeling about you and your student(s) experience. We currently have about 70 responses…but are hoping for over 100…please share your feedback! Please be as honest as you can so that we can celebrate together and grow together. We appreciate you taking the time to fill out this quick survey.
