I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing support of your students and our school. I am so lucky to serve this fantastic community and school!
Today, I am writing to encourage you to participate in the upcoming Edison PTA auction and celebration, EdFest Underground, on this Saturday, May 4th at 7:00-11:00 PM at the Elk’s Club at 2475 W. 26th Ave. in Denver..
This year you can participate in the raffle, “paddle raises”, and the silent auction beginning today at https://www.accelevents.com/e/EdFest. I am impressed at the items that the PTA has secured, as well as, the amazing class baskets parents helped create! There is truly something for everyone in this year’s auctions.
As a public school we cannot fundraise but our PTA can. Edison PTA fundraises throughout the year. As we continue to grow in our academic programming, we need further financial support to do so at a high-quality level. Edison PTA and its fundraising efforts can help us achieve this financial support and I urge you to support them and our school through these efforts. The fundraising efforts of the PTA supports:
– Paraprofessionals in classrooms to increase support to students,
– A volunteer coordinator,
– Enrichment day,
– Transportation for field trips,
– Prizes for Edison Earnings,
– After school tutoring for students,
– and much more!
To help you understand why we need to fundraise at Edison, I would like to remind you that Colorado has not historically funded education well. This is well evidenced with the recent teacher strike and the push for additional school funds. DPS and the state of Colorado, earlier this year, released information reflecting that Colorado funds its students $2,500 less than the national average. At Edison, if we simply received the national average of per pupil funding, this would equate to nearly $1.3 million in our annual budget!
I encourage you to attend the upcoming Edfest event and auction, to get involved with the PTA and our community, and to support the efforts to continuously raise the bar for Edison! If you cannot attend, you can still participate in the on-line auction and/or contribute financially to the cause online at https://edisonptadenver.org/.
