Announcements for summer and back to school 2019-20

This is Sally Whitelock and Benita Cervantes with summer announcements.

What a wonderful year! We hope everyone enjoyed the continuations, the talent show, and end of year parties this week! We are so proud of all of our students. We hope you all have a safe, adventurous and relaxing summer. See you in August!

As you move into the summer, please remember and mark your calendars for the following:

Family Satisfaction Survey
Submit your Family Satisfaction Survey before June 7, 2019! This survey is designed to measure how well your child’s school involves families, the quality of family-school relationships and what you think about the school culture. The honest feedback you are providing will help us make positive changes at Edison and across the district, helping DPS provide a better learning environment for your child. In order to complete the survey, log in to Parent Portal and you will find survey instructions and links in the upper right hand corner of your homepage; click; submit. Save time and money on school supplies for the 2019-20 school year!
The Edison PTA has partnered with EduKit to make it easy to shop for school supplies. You can order a ready-made kit that is delivered directly to the school. Our amazing volunteers are able to use the large quantity purchasing power to get all of the school supplies you need for your child at a price that rivals even the large discount stores. No more shopping around for the best prices, standing in long lines wondering if you have everything you need, or lugging all of that to Back to School Night! Each school supply pack contains everything that is required for your child’s classroom for a single price. It’s quick, easy, and price comparable.
HOW TO ORDER:
1. Go online to www.educationalproducts.com/ShopPacks
2. Enter our School ID: EDI023
3. Select your child’s grade for next year
4. Enter your payment
** Last Day to Order is June 16th, but we strongly encourage ordering by May
31st to avoid missing the deadline.
** Parents are welcome to purchase school supplies on their own. You can find the school supply list on line at https://edison.dpsk12.org/supply-lists/

On-Line Verification
Online Verification for the 2019-2020 school year will take place July 15- Aug 15. You must have a Parent Portal account to register/verify online. If you need to open a Parent Portal account, go to myportal.dpsk12.org and click on Getting Started. If you forgot your password or you can’t log in (you must log in at least once every six months to keep your account active), you can ask for help by emailing portalteam@dpsk12.org or calling the portal hotline at 720.423.3163.
If you do not have computer access or your address has changed, you will need to come to Edison to complete your student’s registration/verification. We’ll have registration at Edison on August 8 from 9:00-3:00. If your address has changed please bring a new proof of address (current Xcel or water bill or lease or mortgage statement), and if your child has had additional immunizations please bring an updated record. Otherwise all you’ll need is names and phone numbers for anyone you want to be on your child’s emergency/pick up list.
There are a few things that are unable to be changed/updated through Parent Portal registration. For the following you will need to come to Edison’s registration (but you can still complete the actual verification online to save yourself time while you’re here):
* If you need to change emergency contact information, you will need to complete a new emergency contact form in Edison’s office during registration.
* If your student needs to keep medication at school you will need to pick up a new form to be filled out by a parent and physician. These will be available at registration as well as in the office throughout the school year.
* If you need a transportation exception form, you will need to complete this during registration at Edison.
* If you need a Free/Reduced Lunch form, you can apply online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application or you can complete a paper application during registration at Edison.
* School supply lists and DPS school calendars are available online at https://edison.dpsk12.org/.

Back-to-School Night
Back-to-school night will be Thursday, August 15 at 5:00 PM. Please bring a picnic dinner for your family to eat on the field starting at 5:00 and visit with other Edison families. Mrs. Whitelock will give a brief welcome to all families around 5:40 and then families can visit their student’s classroom from 6:00-6:30 and again from 6:30-7:00 if they have more than one child.

Kindergarten Assessment
All kindergarten students will need to sign up for an individual assessment on August 12. Please check the kindergarten webpage for links to sign-up genius after August 1 and after you complete the on-line verification and have the teacher assignment to sign up at https://edisonkindercorner.weebly.com/. 1st Day of School for kindergarten students is August 20.

1st Day of School
August 19 for all ECE and 1st-5th grade students at 8:40 AM.
August 20 for kindergartent students at 8:40 AM.
