Weekly Announcements for week of February 15

Hello all in the Land of the Eagles,

This is Sally Whitelock and Benita Cervantes with announcements for the week of February 15  for the Edison Eagles…

Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. We would like to continue to encourage everyone to stay healthy and do your part to get our community more healthy – wear masks, socially distance, wash your hands, keep your social groups very small. We all need to work together to keep our students in school in person as long as possible. THANK YOU!

No School

Monday, February 15 is Presidents’ Day – No school.

Planning day

No school for students on Tuesday, February 16. Teachers will have a professional development and planning day on this day.

Student led conferences

Please plan on attending virtual conferences on Thursday, February 18. Teachers will present information to all parents in a short google meeting. Then, students will share their learning and goals at home. Teachers will meet with parents of all students who are below grade level or need additional support, in addition to all parents who would like 1-1 meetings during scheduled virtual meetings. Please watch for specific information from your child’s teacher.

Traffic at drop off and pick up

Please help us keep our students safe at drop off and pick up times by doing the following:
* School starts at 9:00 AM and school dismisses at 3:00 PM daily.
* Do NOT park on the east side of Quitman or west side of Perry from 8:30-9:15 am or 2:30-3:15 pm.
* Do NOT park, drop off or pick up students off in the staff parking lot.
* If you wish to stay in your car to drop off or pick up students, drive north on Quitman or south on Perry. Then, stop on the school side of the street and drop off your child or wait for your student to come to your car.
* Do NOT drop off students in the street or across the street from Edison.
* Drive north on Quitman Street and south on Perry Street during drop off and pick up times – this will keep traffic going in the same direction to keep students safe.

From Mr. Auday — Kid Heart Challenge

It has been wonderful to see so many of our students and their families engaged in Kids Heart Challenge and learning about how they can take care of their hearts and help others, thank you! We know not every family may be able to donate to the American Heart Association, however, as part of Kids Heart Challenge, every student will benefit from the daily and weekly missions that will teach them about HOW and WHY they need to take care of their hearts. If you can help raise funds, the American Heart Association will put those dollars to work saving lives. Every dollar makes a difference.

MISSION:  Complete Finn’s Mission and be entered in the drawing for a mystery prize!
BONUS MISSION:  Any Heart Hero Recruit who goes above and beyond by raising $150 online by 2/15/2021 at 7am will earn their own Agent KHC!

During the school day, students will watch videos from parents and community members sharing a passion/interest, cultural tradition, or career, as well as engage in activities in their classroom related to passions, culture and career.
