August 18 Kindergarten assessment day (sign up online)
August 19 Back to School Night at 5:00 PM – virtual this year
August 23 First day of school for ECE and 1st-5th grades
August 23 Coffee and Kleenex For ECE parents 8:35 – 9:00 AM on the playground
August 24 First day of school for kindergarten (No school for kindergarten on Aug 23)
August 24 Coffee and Kleenex for kindergarten parents 8:35 – 9:00 AM on the playground
September 24 Eagle Run during the school day
2021-22 Online registration
If you have not already completed the online registration for the 2021-22 school year, please plan to do this July 26-August 14.
To register online, primary legal guardians of current DPS students must have an active DPS Parent Portal account. Visit myportal.dpsk12.org to sign up, or to check that your account is active and ready. Once you are in the parent portal:
* Click More tab
* Click See All Apps (under Misc Pages Column)
* Click Online Registration (bottom box in left hand column)
* Then you’ve arrived at Infinite Campus application, where you have to select More
* Then you select Online registration (this will then automatically prompt you to begin the online registration process)
For more information on how to complete online registration, contact the front office or visit schoolchoice.dpsk12.org.
Please note: Parents can now see teacher assignments on Parent Portal, however, teacher assignments may change over the summer due to enrollment. Please check back periodically to confirm your child’s teacher.
Back to School Night
In order to provide parents with accurate information, begin to build connections and relationships, and keep everyone safe and healthy, Back-to-School night this year will be virtual this year. Parents will receive an information packet from their child’s teacher the week of August 16.
Teachers will also host a 30 minute virtual Back-to-School night meeting via GoogleMeets on August 19. Meeting times will be as follows:
4:00 – ECE 4:30 – Kindergarten
5:00 – 1st grade 5:30 – 2nd grade
6:00 – 3rd grade 6:30 – 4th grade
7:00 – 5th grade
Kindergarten Assessment Day
Hello Kindergarten Families! Kindergarten students and parents will have an opportunity to meet their teacher, see the classroom and work together for a short time before school starts. Please sign up for a kindergarten assessment time slot on August 18, for your student to meet 1-on-1 with your assigned teacher. In this meeting we will go through a 20 minute literacy screener.

After School Edison Enrichment
We are very excited to share that we will be able to offer after school enrichment again this year! The enrichment schedule and description of classes will be posted on line on August 16. 2021-22 Discovery Link Information
Discovery Link Registration for the 2021-22 school year opened April 12. At this time, you will only select the site where your child(ren) will attend next year.
* Once approved, you will be given access to the calendar, and you will select days for August starting on July 1st.
* Families who were enrolled in the school year 2020-2021 do need to register for the school year 2021-2022, even if your site is unchanged. This will give you access to the new school year’s calendars.

Breakfast: 8:00-8:30 AM
Supervision on the playground in AM: 8:25-8:35
School start time: 8:35
School end time: 3:25
PTA Update

COVID Precautions update
DPS leadership is continuing to make decisions regarding health and safety precautions necessary to keep staff and students safe this school year. At this time, the following guidelines are in place:
* Parent/community volunteers are NOT currently permitted within schools.
* Parents and community members may come to the school office, but not into the school building beyond the office.
* Extracurricular activities and field trips are permitted, however, large gatherings are not permitted, therefore at this time we will not plan for performances, festivals, or in-person back to school night.
* Students and staff will be asked to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer frequently.
* Facility staff will continue to sanitize and clean school surfaces frequently.
* Mask decisions have not yet been determined.
