Edison Elementary Celebrates 100 Years in Historic Building

Denver, CO - Edison Elementary School is proud to announce its 100-year anniversary celebration, to take place on Friday, Sept. 19 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the school campus. This exciting milestone marks more than a century of learning, community, and tradition in the heart of Northwest Denver.

** Open to all current and future students, alumni, staff, families, and community members, the event will be held in an open house format, offering something for everyone: whether you’re walking down memory lane or discovering the school’s rich history for the first time.

Event Highlights Include:
* Self-Guided Historical Scavenger Hunt: Explore the building and uncover stories from Edison’s past.
* Physical Artifacts Exhibit in the Gymnasium: View items that span the school’s 100-year history.
Historical Slideshow Presentation in the Auditorium: Enjoy a curated visual journey through the decades.
* Local Food Trucks: Savor some of Denver’s favorite eats right on school grounds.
* Legacy Garden Preview: Learn about Edison’s vision for the future and how you can contribute to the planned legacy garden.

Originally built in 1890 at 30th and Quitman, with the current building dedicated in 1925, Edison Elementary has been a cornerstone of the Denver community for over a century, fostering generations of learners with a focus on academic excellence, creativity, and community involvement. Back to School Open House - Edison's Back-to-school open house will be Wednesday, August 13 from 3:30-5:30 PM. Please plan to attend Edison’s Back-to-School Open House on August 13 anytime between 3:30 and 5:30 PM. Meet the teacher, see the classroom, drop off school supplies and learn about expectations for the school year. While you are at Edison, grab a treat from the school leadership and specials teams!

Order School Supplies for 2025-26 now! Did you know that you can order school supplies from the PTA now and be all prepared for the 2025-26 school year? If you order through PTA online: * the teacher gets the exact supplies they want, * the teachers have time to organize the supplies before the students arrive, * there are fewer issues in the classroom since the students will have all the same supplies, * and you don't have to do ANYTHING past clicking a few buttons! The supplies will be shipped directly to Edison the week before school starts and volunteers will deliver your students' supply pack directly to their teacher. Edison makes a small donation per pack, which is not a lot, but it helps contribute to the PTA Fund. And yes, the supply list has been double-checked! Field Day Hope you are all getting excited for Field Day on May 16. Please join us to watch a fun day of competition! Schedule: * 8:45-10:45 AM - Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade * 1:20-3:20 PM - 1st grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade Mr. Auday has scheduled the fire truck to come to Edison at the end of the day again this year. Please be aware that students may get VERY wet. If your child has an after school activity (Discovery Link or enrichment class, etc) please send a change of clothes. The PTA will sell shirts (for kids that need the next size up), yard signs, and concessions — hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Come hungry and help support the PTA!
