Read-A-Thon 2025 is here, and we’re making it a fun, creative way for students to keep reading over winter break! Our goal is for students to read at least once a day during the 19 days of break.
Each student will bring home a Read-A-Thon game board with 19 snowflakes spread across different icebergs. There are 19 reading challenges that match those snowflakes.
Students choose one reading challenge at a time from the list.
After they complete that challenge, they write its number on a snowflake on the iceberg they’re “exploring.”
No double-dipping: one challenge = one snowflake.
Challenges can be repeated, so kids can stick with their favorites or try something new each day.
Read-A-Thon is also a fundraiser for the Edison PTA. Families and friends can support students’ reading by making either a flat donation or a pledge based on the number of challenges completed. All funds go directly back into Edison’s reading program—supporting new classroom and library books, reading subscriptions, and resources that help keep reading fun and current for all of our students.
If you are worried about losing the board, take a quick photo with your phone and tuck it away until we get back to school! There are prizes earned throughout the game, and one class in each grade that completes the most reading challenges over break will earn a class party!!

** Open to all current and future students, alumni, staff, families, and community members, the event will be held in an open house format, offering something for everyone: whether you’re walking down memory lane or discovering the school’s rich history for the first time.

School starts at 8:25 AM and ends at 3:25 PM
Back to School Open House - Edison's Back-to-school open house will be Wednesday, August 13 from 3:30-5:30 PM. Please plan to attend Edison’s Back-to-School Open House on August 13 anytime between 3:30 and 5:30 PM. Meet the teacher, see the classroom, drop off school supplies and learn about expectations for the school year. While you are at Edison, grab a treat from the school leadership and specials teams!

Field Day
Hope you are all getting excited for Field Day on May 16. Please join us to watch a fun day of competition!
Schedule:
* 8:45-10:45 AM - Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade
* 1:20-3:20 PM - 1st grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade
Mr. Auday has scheduled the fire truck to come to Edison at the end of the day again this year. Please be aware that students may get VERY wet. If your child has an after school activity (Discovery Link or enrichment class, etc) please send a change of clothes.
The PTA will sell shirts (for kids that need the next size up), yard signs, and concessions — hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Come hungry and help support the PTA!
