Weekly Announcements for the Week of December 7

Hello all in the Land of the Eagles,
This is Sally Whitelock and Benita Cervantes with announcements for the week of December 7 for the Edison Eagles…

Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. We would like to continue to encourage everyone to stay healthy and do your part to get our community more healthy – wear masks, socially distance, wash your hands, keep your social groups very small. We all need to work together to keep our students at school in person and get more students back into our schools. THANK YOU!

Edison Office Hours
In order to keep everyone safe and healthy at Edison, most staff are working from home. Edison’s office will be staffed in person during the two weeks prior to winter break only on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:00 and 3:00. If you need support at other times, please email:

Please enjoy these special online shopping features:
– Access to over 6,000 products
– All orders ship direct to home
– FREE shipping on book-only orders over $25.
– All purchases support our school and earn 25% in rewards

Thank you for continuing to support our school. Happy reading!

Read-a-Thon – Coming Soon!
Winter break is fast approaching which means it is time for the Read-a-Thon! The Read-a-Thon will take place December 18 – January 4th and has two goals.
1.) Keep students reading during the 18 days off of winter break.
2.) Raise money for classroom libraries and the Edison Library.
This year we will be using Read For My Schools to help track reading minutes and a way to help support donations to the Read A Thon.
Families, help your student set up an account here: https://rfms.app/35311

There are two ways to donate to the Read-a-Thon
1.) Venmo: @EdisonElementaryPTA (Edison gets 100%)
2.) Use Read For My Schools and Stripe (Edison gets 90%)
Students can earn cool prizes for reading over break! The goal is for all students to read for 400 minutes which is about 20 minutes a day. Students can of course read way more than that and move up the leader board! Keep track of your reading and thank you for supporting Edison Elementary.

Edison Spirit Friday
Friday, December 11 – Video game dress up day – dress up or bring a picture of your favorite video game/video game character to school today.

Do you want to drop off holiday gifts for teachers?
If you would like to give a holiday gift to your child’s teacher, please drop it off at Edison on Tuesday or Thursday between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. Please let Barbara or Michelle know who it is for and we will let the teacher know to come to the school to pick it up. Happy Holidays!

DPS Family Survey
DPS released the latest round of surveys on Nov. 30 to gather feedback from families regarding remote learning. If you haven’t already, we ask that you please take a few minutes of your time today to complete the latest survey. The last day to complete the survey is Dec. 11. This survey asks questions to help us understand the challenges of remote learning, what your student is enjoying, and what we can do to better support their needs. It is completely confidential, so please feel free to openly share your feedback.
