Important school dates

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer with some fun adventures and a little relaxation. As you begin to think about the upcoming school year, I wanted to share some important dates:

Registration/Verification Information:All parents need to register (verify) their students for school in August. Please plan on coming in to the Edison office on August 6, 7 or 8 between 9 AM and 3 PM to complete paperwork. If you are new to Edison or have moved, please bring current birth certificates, immunization records, proof of address (example: an Xcel Energy bill), email addresses, and names and phone numbers for emergency contacts. Be aware that your child will only be released from school to adults who are listed as emergency contacts. You will receive your student’s teacher’s name after all the registration paperwork is complete.

Lawn Party and Back to School Night Open House: August 21 from 5:00-7:00 PM – Bring a picnic dinner and join the community on the Edison lawn for a social event from 5-6 PM. Edison Extra Enrichment providers will share information on their before/after school programs. At 5:45, the principal will do a welcome speech on the lawn. Welcome meetings will occur in classrooms to learn about class expectations and drop off school supplies from 6-6:30 and 6:30-7 PM.

School Start Dates: The first day of school for all ECE and 1^st-5^th grade students is August 25 at 8:40 AM. For kindergarten students:

• August 25 (all day) and August 26 (in the afternoon) are assessment days, students will only come to school during their scheduled appointments;
• First day of school for kindergarteners in August 26 from 8:45-11:45.
• The first full day of kindergarten will be on August 27
• When you register your student for kindergarten, please sign up for an assessment appointment for your student.
