Edison’s caring community

Thank you Edison community for your thoughtfulness during this ‘Season of Giving’.
* The community donated $4263 from the Trunk or Treat. 100% of this money was placed in PTA teach accounts to be used by teachers to support community building and supplies for this school year.
* The food drive, sponsored by Edison’s 5th graders, brought in over 2000 items to be donated to Bienvenidos Food Bank in Sunnyside. What a generous donation from our community!

COVID

Edison has, unfortunately, had a lot of positive COVID cases and students quarantined due to exposure lately. Therefore, at school, we will temporarily ask students to sit in the same cafeteria seat each day so we can track exposures closely; ask students and adults to wear masks inside and outside on school grounds; and increase our sanitizing efforts.

Please help us by:
* Keep your child home if they are sick or have symptoms,
* Use these resources to help you decide if your child should come to school

DPS snow day procedure for 2021-22

DPS has shared the following information regarding snow days this school year:
* For a single snow day, we will do a traditional snow day.
* If, due to weather, we are not able to safely allow students to attend in person for multiple days, then starting on the second day we will pivot to remote learning.
* To support in planning and this shift, any time we are considering a potential snow day, DPS will send messaging to schools by mid-day the day before to remind students and teachers to prepare (such as by taking home computers) in the event that it becomes a multi-day event and we need to shift to a temporary remote learning model.

DPS Healthy Start Resolution

In May 2021, DPS Board of Education passed a resolution to have all middle schools and high schools (district-managed and charters) start no earlier than 8:20 a.m. each school day to support healthy sleep habits in adolescents. The new Healthy Start bell times will go into effect for the 2023-24 school year. If you would like more information regarding this resolution or to provide feedback to the district pease go to: https://www.dpsk12.org/healthy-start-times/

School Choice Information

School Choice is for any student who wants or needs to attend a new school for the following school year, particularly “transitioning” students, typically incoming kinder, sixth and ninth-grade students. All incoming preschool students, as well as incoming students who reside in an enrollment zone, must complete an application. The school choice window is: January 14 to February 12.
