Edison’s Scholastic Book Fair and Literacy Night

The 2016 edition of Edison Elementary’s annual winter Scholastic Book Fair is coming up Dec. 13-15, and we very much need your help to make this a success for our kids and our school! Can you pitch in?

Shopping at the book fair is a great way to support Edison, because over 50% of the profits from book sales are used to buy books for Edison classrooms and the library. Your child can also pick up books for the Edison Read-a-Thon, taking place during winter break!

To get the Scholastic Book Fair up and running, the Edison PTA needs volunteers to help with set-up and book sales. Morning, midday, afternoon, and evening shifts are available, and many are just an hour long. It’s a great way to meet your child’s classmates and get a close-up view of how excited Edison students are about reading.

Book fair hours are as follows:

  • Tues.-Wed., Dec. 13-14: 8-9am, 11:30am-1pm, 3:30-5pm
  • Thurs. Dec. 15: 5:30-7pm (also Literacy Night)

Note that Dec. 15 is also Literacy Night, where in addition to shopping at the book fair, students can wear pajamas and listen to a reading of the Polar Express.

If you can spare an hour of your time, please visit our sign up page for volunteers (http://bit.ly/edisonbookfair2016) and pick a date and time to lend a hand. Shifts are available Friday Dec. 9 (set up) through Thursday Dec. 15.

Thanks in advance for pitching in and helping Edison and our students! Happy reading!
