Edison Announcements for Week of November 9

Hello all in the Land of the Eagles,

This is Sally Whitelock and Benita Cervantes with announcements for the week of November 9 for the Edison Eagles…

Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. We would like to continue to encourage everyone to stay healthy and do your part to get our community more healthy – wear masks, socially distance, wash your hands, keep your social groups very small. We all need to work together to keep our students at school in person and get more students back into our schools. THANK YOU!

Lifetouch Picture day at Edison

Students who are attending school in person will have school pictures on November 10. We will have another picture day in March for students who are not currently attending school in person.

Edison Spirit Friday

Friday, November 13 – Imaginary Animal dress up day  — Bring pictures of or dress up as your favorite animal or imaginary animal!

Get and Greet – AND Parking/Traffic support

We are welcoming parents to pick up their students after school again this year in our Get and Greet lane located on the northwest side of Perry Street, by the playground/community garden. If you have not signed up for this, please ask your teacher for the sign up link.

We REALLY need parents to support us in keeping our students safe before and after school. Please do NOT park on the West side of Perry Street or the East side of Quitman Street during the following hours: 8:30-9:15 or 2:30-3:15. We welcome parents to drive up, stay in their cars and drop off or pick up students in these areas, but NOT park and get out of their cars. Additionally, please only drop off students on the school side of the street – not in the middle of the street. We have already had one car accident, so we really need people to drive safely. THANK YOU.

In need of Clorox Wipes

Edison appears to be going through Clorox Wipes like water…If you are able to donate more of these, we would greatly appreciate it. Please bring them to the school office or send them with your child to school. THANK YOU!

Attendance

New “COVID” Attendance Policy for in person students: If your child is attending school in person and needs to be absent due to health concerns or a quarantine, please email the teacher and call the attendance line (720-424-7784). The health office will follow up with parents and teachers regarding next steps using the DPS COVID decision tree for coming back to school. Students will be marked absent and will miss learning on that first day. If students need to be home for more than that 1 day, the classroom teacher will arrange for the student to join the online classroom to continue learning in the meantime. Students should not join the online class without direction from their homeroom teacher and this will not be an option on the first day of missed school. Please know that your student will be marked absent every day in the morning while they are attending online classes, however, the secretary will fix this at the end of each day when attendance is reported by the online teacher (parents do not need to do anything for this to be corrected). Please remember that joining the online classroom is not intended for students to learn remotely for any other reason than a health concern or COVID quarantine.
